Working Vacations: A creative solution for weary therapists.
THERAPISTS - Have you felt like you are burning from both ends? Feeling weary and ready for a reset? Wondering how your therapy or coaching business can possibly survive if you even THOUGHT about a vacation? I have a creative solution for you.
Curating Your Virtual Therapy Experience
One of the TOP concerns I hear from folks who are new to virtual therapy is that virtual won’t feel as comfy or personal as in-person therapy. I want to share a few tips I give to my virtual therapy clients on how to make virtual therapy feel like the perfect oasis of self care in their week.
Virtual Vision Boards for Your Therapy Era.
THIS IS YOUR TIME, BABE!
I love the idea of setting aside time every once in a while to reset our focus. Truth be told, I am not consistent with it.
However, as a therapist with teens + young adults, I had this idea to incorporate social media (my sweet angel, Pinterest) and harness creativity to explore our Therapy ERA.
HELP! The Internet Diagnosed Me!
THE INTERNET. What a wild yet magical place. Have you ever been scrolling and realized “uhh… That post about *specific mental illness* feels a little too specific?
You are not alone. As a therapist who works with adolescents and young adults, I see this ALL OF THE TIME. Shoot, sometimes I even double take at these posts.
Curious about how to go about it when the internet diagnoses you? I got you.
Holiday Boundaries… Set ‘Em + Respect ‘Em.
Let’s be real. The holidays are painted as this magical time full of joy, laughter, and connection. And my truest hope is that you get IN on that. That is good stuff.
However, there also comes the other stuff. Like the stress of buying the right things, the anxiety of seeing family members that just are not healthy, or the pockets of grief that you did not expect - you know, that grief that comes with life just not looking how you thought it would.
I am here to tell you that it is perfectly acceptable (and encouraged) to make a plan to protect your peace, celebrate the way you see fit, and maybe invite some meaningful change into your holidays. You In?
A Therapist-Approved Gift Guide
Oh, the holidays. A time when you regret not keeping a list of things your loved ones want in your notes app. If you get anxious about gift buying or just want some direction on your own wish list - I have some suggestions for you that really tap into holistic wellness.
What better way to suggest some of my FAVORITE go-to gifts than using one of my FAVORITE coping skills? The 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 method is a coping skill we use to help guide out attention when feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, and over it. So... Let’s dive in.
Creating Space For Self Care
Life is hectic, and things get so busy. You find yourself jumping from thing to thing to thing… Yep. I hear ya.
And THEN you throw in this movement to “be your best self,” “live your truth,” and practice self-care. One of the NUMBER ONE things I hear in therapy is that people want to do these things but can’t seem to find the time. A lot of folks I talk to actually shudder at these terms because they feel so out of reach.
Fear not. Holistically caring for yourself is NOT out of reach. Here are some simple ways to weave caring for yourself into your day-to-day.
5 Things You Need To Know About Therapy
There are specific therapeutic responsibilities that therapists uphold to remain professional. In my own experience with therapy, that was super tough. As a therapist, I like to let my clients know these key “truths” about therapy. You know, to ease the rigidness.
